3 Tips to Make Your YouTube Channel Adaptable

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: running a YouTube channel is a lot like running your own business.  That said, what happens when outside circumstances force you to change your business model?  Adaptability is a big key to success, especially on YouTube, and it’s important to prepare yourself and your channel to embrace those changes.

1.  Determine Your ‘Plan B’

You’ve probably heard the common expression: “putting all your eggs in one basket.”  It basically means moving forward without a back-up plan, and it’s a dangerous way to go – especially in entertainment.  As content creators, it’s often a good idea to have a few options of content in case one goes stale, and that means thinking ahead!  Start up a new series that your current audience might like, start thinking about new show ideas, and build some diversity in your channel so you have options in case something stops your major money-maker from continuing.

2.  Stay Informed

Keeping up to date with news about your content and your vertical is a good way to predict any potential issues in the future.  This not only keeps you up to date for protection, it also informs your content and can provide new angles to keep your audience entertained.  It’s a win-win!

3.  Be Pre-emptive

Now that you have the research down to an art form, how do you use that information in a way that helps your channel?  Research into your content will usually help to provide some warning before changes happen, which means that you can prepare yourself to adapt.  Don’t make changes at the last minute – the earlier you can adapt, the better!
