How to Prep for the New YouTube Layout

The new YouTube layout has made its debut! Right now, you can see how channels like iJustine, EpicMealTime and Geek & Sundry have played around with the layout in ‘limited beta’ mode. It will roll out soon to all YouTubers, so we’re giving you a template and tips on how to prepare for it.

1) Create a Welcome Video for New Viewers

When new viewers come to your channel, they will see a central video that is only visible to viewers who aren’t subscribed yet. Treat this as an introduction video! Show them around and take advantage of their directed interest by including a call to action for them to subscribe (and tell them why).

2) Prep Your Winning Channel Layout

Our graphic designer Sarah has created a template just for you, so you are ready right when it becomes available. Click the image below to see the exact pixel dimensions of the new channel design. Also check out YouTube’s Channel Art Guidelines. The new layout allows your branding to show up on every device, including mobile. If you have any other questions about the channel layout, tweet us @viso.
